Korean Joongdo Ilbo reported on 5th that KIPO announced that they improved the method of three-dimensional design application filing process for personal and small. Until now, three-dimensional applications were applicable only with DWG, DWF, 3DS, and IGES forms. However, KIPO improved the electronic systems for applicants. Now, applicants are able to apply three-dimensional design application with 3DM forms which students and many individuals are utilizing due to its cheap price. Three-dimensional design application has been rapidly increased from 791 cases in 2010, to 1588 cases in 2011 and 2345 cases in 2012. Without having two-dimensional design applications, the application with three-dimensional drawing has seen that more than twice as high as 25% to 55% in the general design filings. NEWSIS reported on 10th that KIPO announced on 10th that they will support second-class citizens’ IP registrations and litigations through talent donation of IP experts in patent, brand and design fields.  ‘IP Talent Donation’ is a kind of ‘Pro Bono’ movement which is a Latin phrase for professional work undertaken voluntarily and without payment or at a reduced fee as a public service.  Donators who want to share their IP talent are applicable year-round and beneficiaries are applicable by 29th of this month to KIPO (Korea Intellectual Property Office), KIPA (Korea Invention Promotion Association) and RIPC (Regional Intellectual Property Center)’s web pages.
