A federal jury in New York ruled that
Nintendo infringed Seijiro Tomita‘s 3D technology patent, Reuter reported.
According to Reuter, Nintendo used the technology which Tomita developed for
providing 3D images to their videogame system without permission.
This argument stated in 2011 by Tomita. He
claimed that he met several Nintendo R&D engineers in 2003 to show off
their technology. Nintendo argued that Tomita was one of several vendors
selling 3D display technology.
Tomita has originally asked for over $292
million or $9.80 for every Nintendo 3DS sold, according to Arstechnica. Nintendo
has been ordered to pay $30.2 million in damages to Tomita.
