Here, we have searched with keyword related to autonomous driving. X-axis was set for "Application Date-Yearly" and y-axis was set for "1st Applicant" to view patent application status on a yearly basis. Patent application related to autonomous driving has started to show active status from 2015 onwards. Even with a short glance, we are able to see that well-known vehicle companies such as Toyota Motors, Ford Global Tech, Honda Motors, GM Global Technology Operations, Hyundai Motors etc. are ranked at the top.

This
time, we have set the technical field by application year.
As shown on right, areas with high patent application number are highlighted in darker shade. If the user wants to know about the patent information regarding a specific area, they could click onto it to immediately find out about lists of patents applied for the corresponding technology in a selected year. Moreover, as lists are directly connected to 'View Details' page about each patents, further information about citation or patent family can be simultaneously checked. By knowing the patent distribution for both patent application date and original IPC, we are able to learn which firm is focusing on which technical field.

This
time, we have set the x-axis for IPC to look for main technologies related to
autonomous driving that have been submitted by each applicant.
As autonomous driving functions based on the self-control mechanism, which drives the vehicle to the destination without requiring user intervention, ‘control’ technology is extremely important.
