Korean Patent-Net arrives in Africa

The KIPO net system is going into the African continent.

KIPO and KOICA (korea International Cooperation Agency) hosted launching session in Harare, Zimbabwe on 7th, for modernization of the African regional intellectual property offices’ (ARIPO) patent information system.

ARIPO is the patent organization for English speaking African 54-nation members including Zimbabwe, Kenya, and Mozambique and so on.

Femando dos Santos, the secretary general of ARIPO,  the minister of Zimbabwean Ministry of Commerce, and the minister of Zimbabwean Patent Office attended at this session and reflected African interest and expectation for Patent-Net service platform for English speaking countries.  The deputy head of department of KIPO, Ambassador of Republic of Korea to Zimbabwe, and the team leader of WIPO attended the session from Korean side. .   

KIPO has been promoted international cooperation projects for developing countries’ modernization of administration process by using KOICA’s GRA projects.  ARIPO patent-net building project will be funded 580 million dollars in two years.
