Guess vs. Gucci, G logo trademark dispute

Gucci and Guess had a trademark lawsuit for ‘G’ and Guess won in Milan.
According to Vogue, the New York court closed the case in 2012 and ordered Guess to pay $4.7 million (£2.9 million). But in Milan, the court ruled in favor of Guess. It declared that the ‘G’ logo is common in the fashion industry.

The Milan Court ordered the cancellation of Gucci's diamond pattern, G logo, and "Flora" pattern trademarks. A spokesperson for Gucci said that they were strongly disagreed with the decision.  

The first trademark suit was filed by Gucci in 2009..
