Simon Fuller, the idol creator, settles US X Factor case

X factor aired in 2012

Simon Fuller who is known for pop idol star maker has settled with Fox and producers. The Hollywood Reporter said that when Simon Cowell launched X Factor in the U.K in 2004, Fuller claimed his rights of American Idol and copyright infringement lawsuit.

Fox broadcasts both American Idol and US version of The X-factor. This case started in 2004 between Simon Fuller and Simon Cowell over similarities between Idol by Fuller and X Factor by Cowell. Fuller sued Cowell for copyright issue and settled the case in 2005 with the agreement that X-Factor would not be aired in US until 2011.
