Apple loses legal battle against iFone in Mexico

iFone, S.A. de CV is a telecommunications company sells communications systems and related services. Because of the name ‘iFone’, they got a legal battle against Apple ‘iPhone’ recently, and iFone has won. 

The Mexican firm, iFone, said that the court denied Apple's bid to protect iPhone’s name. iFone sued the California-based company, iPhone, because the similar-sounding names that may caused confusion to consumers.

It is the third time that Apple loses and this demonstrates the legal truth:
iFone is within its full right to use its brand,”

iFone keeps their name because of their fast move. They registered in 2003, Apple didn’t. Apple filed a lawsuit against this Mexican firm three years ago, and it said that the name iFone is too phonetically similar to their iPhone that could create confusion among consumers. However, the court ruled that the Mexican company already registered the iFone trademark in 2003, while Apple did not register their product until 2007, studentnewsie.com commented.
