Lush files trademark infringement suit against Amazon

Lush, a cosmetics company in UK, filed a trademark suit against Amazon. Lush claimed that Amazon sold similar products that are not made by Lush and it offered search advertisement with ‘Lush’ Keyword.

According to The Drum, The High Court said 

"Lush brought trademark infringement proceedings against Amazon on the basis that when the term 'Lush' was searched for on Amazon's website, the results returned were for goods which, although they featured the word 'lush' in a number of contexts, were not in fact made by Lush. Amazon had also bid on the Google AdWord 'Lush Bath Products' but did not, in fact, sell any Lush products."

South Korean Universities' IP Assessment

WIPS, Korean ETnews and Korean Patent Attorneys Association did collaboration research and the result has been published in the ETnews on 23rd, . 

The research targeted 113 South Korean universities holding more than 10 patents.  The research categorized the evaluation items by IP culture (policy of the university, support, systems, etc.), IP power (the number of applications/ number of granted patents), global competitiveness (overseas patent application/number of overseas granted patents), and industry contribution (technology). 

Every category’s highest score is 900 points each.  Based on year of 2012, we summarized the material through the university by using the survey information and analyzed the data that we collected. As a result, Hanyang University ranked in the first place and Korea University took the next place.
