Pantech is facing a lawsuit from Pragmatus over patent infringement

Pantech is in danger of being embroiled in patent disputes in the US. US ITC reported on August 1st, US mobile communication device producer Pragmatus sued Pantech. 

Pragmatus sued Pantech over violation of patents covering phones and tablets that can be tracked using global-positioning-system signals.  Pragmatus requested ITC banning import of Pantech’s infringed products.

Seoul International Invention Fair 2013 (SIIF 2013) @COEX, Seoul in NOV

Seoul International Invention Fair 2013 will be held this November at COEX, Seoul.

Korea Intellectual Property Office(KIPO) announced that they accept entries till 17^th October. All college students and companies who have designs/patent pending or rights in domestic and foreign countries can apply for this fair. 

According to the KIPO, this fair started in 2002 and there will be about 700 entries from 30 countries. There will be not only exhibitors, but also presentations and large distribution companies joining this fair to make more opportunities for new market opening.  

For applying this fair, visit siif.org or kipa.org and download the application form and submit it by mail or visit.

SK Energy and SK Energy, not a trademark infringement

SK Energy is one of main affiliates of SK group in Korea. Recently, it had a minor issue because of SK Energy drink’s name. SK Energy, a sport and energy drink brand in USA, is famous sport drink and it has been voted as no.1 energy drink in USA.

SK Energy group in Korea, they started to investigate whether the SK Energy drink company violated their trademark rights or not. But SK Energy in Korea decided that they didn’t need to make any legal actions for this case. According to a counselor from Seoul Central District Court’s, even though their name is same, it’ll be not a trademark violation because their business types are different.
