eBay Sued for allegedly infringing

eBay Inc. was sued for allegedly infringing patents that related to the display of auction information online technology, tamebay.com reported. Patent-holding company Advanced Auctions LLC claimed that eBay used their technology to update bid and pricing information in the last hour of an auction. 

Advanced Auctions LLC explained that “eBay’s webpages present bidders with information regarding the time remaining in the auction and the current bid amount. Before the final hour of the auction, Defendant eBay does not automatically update its webpages with this information. Rather, the bidder must manually refresh their browser to request and obtain current auction information. In the final hour of the auction, this information is automatically updated“, in their complaintTamebay said. Advanced Auctions is seeking for a judgment that eBay’s infringement, damages and injunction preventing.

Ebay had patent infringement issue in July 2010. EBay was sued for $3.8 billion by XPRT Ventures that accused eBay of stealing information shared in confidence by the inventors on XPRT's own patents. Read more about this issue on Reuters.
