TOP 10 Patent Owner Companies in 2012, Samsung Electronics won 2nd rank.

Intellectual Property Owners Association (IPO) published top 300 patent owners in the world in 2012. It is updated on 24th June 2013 and list compiled by IPO every year.

Here are top 10 companies on the list.

                      

1. International Business Machines Corp. 6,457 patents

2. Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. 5,043 patents

3. Sony Corp. 3,608 patents

4. Canon K.K. 3,307 patents

5. Panasonic Corp. 2,829 patents

6. Hitachi, Ltd. 2,723 patents

7. Microsoft Corp. 2,704 patents

8. LG Electronics Inc. 2,682 patents

9. Toshiba Corp. 2,601 patents

10. General Electric Co. 2,040 patents.

Besides Samsung Electronics, Samsung Samsung Electro-Mechanics, Samsung SDI, Samsung Mobile Display and Samsung Display has patents registered, too.  Google is ranked on 23rd with 1,151 patents registered, Apple took 24th with 1,136 patents.
