Estevan Oriol, a Mexican American
photographer and director, has filed a copyright lawsuit against H&M, a
famous fashion retailer. H&M has sued for using ‘LA Hands’ image which was
taken by Estevan Oriol.
According to Business Times, The photo of a
female model’s fingers forming the letters ‘LA’ for Los Angeles became iconic
symbol of LA and Estevan Oriol produced t-shirts with the photo in 2006.
"If you put my photograph side-by-side
with their re-creation of my image, anyone would tell you they are one in the
same…they clearly copied my image," Oriol said in the file.
