LG and Pantech being sued for patent infringement of Nokia Siemens Networks’ wireless communication technologies.  US NPE, Acacia Research’s affiliate filed a suit with an Eastern District court of Texas against mobile companies including LG, Pantech, HTC, ZTE, and BlackBerry.

The subsidiaries of the Acacia Research’s members are known as the Inventors of Nokia Siemens Networks patents.

Nokia Siemens Networks made a licensing agreement with Acacia Research last year.

Acacia Research purchased 2G, 3G, and 4G wireless network related Wireless Infrastructure and User Equipment technology patents from Nokia Siemens Networks.

LG Electronics announced that they will be tough on this patent lawsuit to protect their business and Pantech is also planning to response actively after they identify the exact contents of the lawsuit.

However, it seems hard to LG and Pantech do a counter-suit against Acacia.  NPEs usually own the patents but not manufacture or use the patented invention which makes counterparts to raise issues related to infringement problems.
