Tencent and Google made patent cross-licensing deal

Google and Chinese social media and gaming giant Tencent have agreed a cross-license patent deal about products and technologies. Tencent oversees China’s leading social media and payments app WeChat which has almost one billion users.
Tencent also oversees one of China’s most popular app stores and hosts China’s biggest gaming and livestream platforms.
“By working together on agreements such as this, tech companies can focus on building better products and services for their users,” said Mike Lee, Google’s head of patents. Sam Xu, head of intellectual property at Tencent, said: “We are pleased to advance the collaboration between the two leading technology companies.
“With this agreement, both companies can focus on bringing greater products and services to consumers around the world.”
