The Ministry of Justice pre-announced legislation of and ‘Exit and Entry Control Act Enforcement Ordinance’ revised bill on 30th, grant ‘Start-up visa’ for foreign elite manpower to vitalize domestic investment. 

According to this revised bill of enforcement ordinance, a foreign person who is holding Bachelor’s degree above, Intellectual Property and established incorporation in related field will be awarded ‘Start-up visa.’

A foreign person who contribute job creation by hiring more than 2 Korean employees and attract more than three hundred million won in Korea will be awarded permanent residency (F-5).

A foreign person who is holding intellectual property and has will to do start-up will be awarded D-10 visa, and will be awarded start-up visa after he or she satisfy fixed condition later.

KIPO will update applicants’ address information automatically to prevent disadvantage for individual patent applicants from next month.

The director of KIPO customer support department had a briefing regard ‘Automatic Change System for Applicants’ address’ and ‘IP Certification of Registration Online Reissue Service’ for patent system users’ convenience on 29th.

The IP certification of registration is a public certification which proves the registration of patent right, utility model right, design right and trademark right. 

Until now, an applicant or a patent holder had to change their information changes by themselves by submitting address change applications to KIPO when he or she moves.  However, they don’t have to change by themselves according to ‘Reformed System for Automatic Change of Applicant’s Address.’ 

In addition, KIPO will vitalize ‘IP Certification of Registration Online Reissue Service’ to prevent inconvenience for patent holders.  Until now, reissuing certification of registration took three to five days after the patent holder apply by mail or visit.
