Kudelski company and OpenTV announced on Kudelskiwebsite that it has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Netflix, Inc.
in the United States District Court in Delaware. The lawsuit claims that Netflix
infringed on 7 patents related to Internet TV including the use of viewer information,
digital rights management and video playback.
Joe Chernesky, a intellectual property manager of Kudelski, said that
"For over 20 years, the Kudelski Group has been developing technologies that enable the delivery of video content and have an early and broad patent portfolio in the field,"
"We intend to aggressively defend our patents." on cnbc.com.
Kudelski is a Swiss company that
manufactures hardware and software digital security and convergent media
systems for the delivery of digital and interactive content. OpenTV is a global
software technology company for interactive and digital television.
