Google drops patent claims against Microsoft

Google asked U.S International Trade Commission (ITC) to drop claims that Microsoft infringed its essential patents, Wall Street Journal reported. Motorola Mobility which has been purchased by Google has accused that Microsoft made Xbox with Google’s patented technology. Google also asked the ITC to block import the Xbox and sales ban in US.

Microsoft deputy general counsel David Howard said to Reuters in emailed statement that "We're pleased that Google has finally withdrawn these claims for exclusion orders (sales bans) against Microsoft, and hope that it will now withdraw similar claims pending in other jurisdictions,”

ITC and Google both did not respond to a request for comment.
