SK Hynix, new trial against Rambus memory chip patent case


SK hynix vs. Rambus

SK Hynix has filed a new trial, the memory-chip technology patent case against Rambus Inc. that already have won in California six years ago. The case was originally filed by SK Hynix against Rambus in August 2000, The case was split into three separate phases. To read details of these three phases, click here
SK Hynix requested a new trial last week, because the some of patents of Rambus have been rejected by the BPAI.

SK Hynix Inc is a South Korean memory semiconductor supplier of dynamic random access memory ('DRAM') chips and flash memory chips. Founded in 1983, Hynix is the world's second-largest memory chipmaker and the world's sixth-largest semiconductor company. Formerly known as Hyundai Electronics, the company has manufacturing sites in Korea, the U.S., China and Taiwan. Hynix has recently been merged to SK Group, the 3rd largest conglomerate in South Korea, in 2012.

Rambus was incorporated in 1990 and re-incorporated in the state of Delaware in 1997. The company was listed on NASDAQ in 1997 under the code RMBS. Companies such as AMD, Elpida, Infineon, Intel, Matsushita, NECEL, Qimonda, Renesas, Sony, and Toshiba have bought licenses to Rambus patents for use in their own products.
