Finally, iPhone5 has unveiled in San Fransisco on last Wednesday.
As the launch of first LTE (Long term evolution) smartphone, now people are focusing on what's the next friction between Samsung and Apple Inc. The Korea Times reports that the market watchers said Samsung Electronics Co. will take legal action to bring these top smartphone makers' global patent dispute on.
Samsung was in the lead as No. 1 LTE
standard patent holder at the European Telecommunications Standards Institute
(ETSI) in the first half. According to Korean Intellectual Property Office
(KIPO), Samsung leads with 819 patents, or 12.7 percent of the total. (Apple was top 10 for the first time this
year.)
Despite the fact that Apple sues Samsung as their
first patent war, some people said that it may be an unwise action for Samsung
if they sues Apple. A patent expert Florian Mueller said on his blog: "I
would strongly discourage Samsung from trying to use 4G/LTE-essential patents
to shut down the iPhone 5. It won't improve Samsung's position."
Now that the iPhone 5 has unveiled and Samsung already has most patent legal right for LTE, we need to wait and see how they are going to have another dispute war next half.
